Keeper 829 is Michael Camarillo's debut novel. This dystopian fiction reshapes the way the world works by mixing historical storytelling with an imaginative (and dark) future. In this cautionary tale, readers are taken to a world on the brink of collapse where humans are just another experiment in a cosmic vision fueled by genetic engineering. The oppressive organization that provides global harmony is not what it seems. Something inhuman is lurking in the shadows, and once the veil is dropped, readers will join a race against the extermination clock in a multi-book series.

The War changed everything. The Great Lie was dispelled and humanity found meaning and purpose in The Institution. The faithless collective society rising from the ashes has become a veritable Eden.

Or has it?

Paynims vanish without a word while the mysterious government churns on. Conformity rules all.

Nesha Gray floats through life like everyone else. She just exists. But Nesha has a secret. She’s not like everyone else. She looks human but she’s not…

A letter and a stranger rips back the veil of an even more ominous secret…that humans are a crop for reaping. In a world of betrayal, deception, and genetic engineering, Nesha is confronted with a harrowing truth.

Only questions remain…

Read this book for a book club and was not disappointed. The story line keeps the reader engaged while providing the right amount of descriptive detail throughout the book. The author provides a great storyline where you are rooting for the main character at every challenge. Awesome read and would highly recommend to other individuals and book clubs.

I am always looking for new books to fill my library at home and this book is a great addition now that I can finally find a spot for it. As soon as I started reading Keeper 829 it was impossible to put it down. I wanted to know more and figure where the story would take Nesha. Beautiful details of locations and along with plenty of imagery to make you feel like you are right there with the characters. The ending left me shock/excited to find out what is going to happen next! Book 2 here I come 🙂

I’ve read this book twice now and it’s better each time! Intriguing the entire ride, this book leaves you in anticipation for the next book in the series. Non-stop page turner the whole way!

My favorite part (without spoilers!!) is the mix of real life places with a future that seems absolutely plausible mixed with a sci-fi plot that will leave you guessing and make you feel like you’re living it.

This well crafted, dystopian, futuristic political thriller truly resonates in our current environment. The female lead adds an exciting twist to a genre that is usually not on my playlist.
Reccomended.

Keeper829 is creative, philosophical, and entertaining! I enjoyed how the plot and structure unfolds with the book. By the end I couldn't put it down; now I need to read the next book to see what happens!

In a dystopian future, humankind is unaware that once again the world is on the brink of war. Keepers have always been on earth to cultivate life and meet their directives. Religion is obsolete and the existence of God has been disproven. Or has it?

Keeper 829 questions her role, philosophical beliefs, and loyalties as she navigates her existence and corrupted memory files to learn the truth. Ultimately, deciding between meeting her makers or saving her “children.

Keeper 829 is definitely philosophical in nature. It really makes you think. This book is reminiscent of A brave new World, or 1984, Except the detail, this author goes into is unbelievable. In some parts, you feel as if you are there. Others are written so beautifully that they could be poetry if written alone. The author really has a way with words, that has you turning pages because you feel like you are right there with Nesha

This book was intriguing from the start. Set in the near future but with a storyline concept reaching back to the genesis of the human, the book follows a strong female lead and her quest to understand her place in the world and how the layers, players, politics, and belief systems of some not-quite humans are triggering a global meltdown. Why do all sides need her? How can she possibly complete her mission? I love creative, intelligent dystopian novels and this one has all the goods, layers and layers of them. It leaves you wanting more. My only disappointment is that Book 2 isn't available yet!!

Though I am not a fan of sci-fi as much as fantasy, I gave this one a try- and was not disappointed!
I loved the way information was revealed without being an info dump. I loved how real places on earth were used as the scenery for the story and how some of them had more meaning than just a background.
The reader is left unsure of who to trust, who are the true 'good guys' and the scales keep tipping from side to side.
Really interesting conception of who and what we are.
I recommend this book to sci-fi lovers who enjoy a fast paced, mysterious story line. Waiting for the sequel!
